Proof it's not all doom and gloom right now.
Sydney nightlife is set to get a much-needed boost thanks to news that the infamous Lansdowne is reopening.
Hitting back against a spate of closures and debilitating lock-out laws are the folk behind Mary’s and The Unicorn Hotel, Jake Smyth and Kenny Graham, who have revealed they will be re-establishing the hotel as one of Sydney’s premier live music venues – 3 am operating licence included.
The building, which has been under extensive renovations for several months, will feature a new band room with capacity for 250 people as well as a food offering on par with what you’d expect from Mary’s – think pizza and burgers with beers and classic cocktails. The ground floor will keep most of the fit-out you’ll remember from the 90s while the third floor will house a 10-room hostel.
The venue has an anticipated opening date of June.
