Melbourne spirits maker Marionette has revealed a summer pop-up on Johnston Street in Fitzroy, and has invited some very talented friends to help them celebrate.
Just in time for the beloved Johnston Street Fiesta, the team behind award-winning Victorian liqueur brand Marionette has revealed a summer pop-up at 28 Johnston Street Fitzroy, with a program filled with Melbourne food talent.
Launched by a quartet of hospitality professionals, Marionette is using the pop-up to show off its new-release Marionette Elderflower, made with blooms from Yarra Valley edible flower farm Petite Ingredients. Over the 11-day program, they will be joined by the likes of cult ice creamery Luther’s Scoops and chef Mark Hannell of new CBD favourite Reed House.

As you’d expect, the drinks list feature’s some of Melbourne’s best. A rotating mix of frozen cocktails coming out of the slushie machine include a Marionette Elderflower and Melbourne Gin Company Eastside; and a Roast Pineapple Pina Colada courtesy of Jason Chan from Burdekin Rum. There will also be blood-plum Americano spritzes with Reed & Co Shochu and Melbourne Sake; and boozy blue icy poles.
For eats, neighbours Tortas and Tacos will be doing fruit-laced limited-edition tostadas including a peach-topped version to go with Marionette’s Gospel Rye peaches and cream snow cone; while Charlie Duffy of Small Batch is whipping up a batch of peach and elderflower cream buns for sale in house Saturday, February 15. Over that first Saturday, Preston Market baker Joy Jaune will also be serving panna cottas topped with elderflower jelly; with Luther’s Scoops creating a Marionette-spiked ice cream for adult-only affogatos.

On Sunday, 16, Reed House chef Hannell is whipping up savoury scones with paired cheese from Lucy Whitlow, usually busy in her official capacity at lead pastry chef and cheesemaker for the Conferre Group, of Tipo 00, Osteria Ilaria, Figlia and Grana. To drink, think boozy apricot earl grey tea.
The line-up will also include a lesson in edible flower arranging and cocktail making for budding entertainers with Kayla Moon of XFLOS, as well as industry masterclasses. During the Johnston Street Fiesta, on the weekend of February 22 and 23, the pop-up will provide a front-row view of the famous street festival (with the best snacks and cocktails on the strip to boot).
