Blue Box Café has landed at the jewellery company's flagship.
Do you dream of standing longingly in front of Tiffany’s Fifth Avenue windows, pastry and takeaway coffee in hand, gazing at the sparkling displays while imagining Moon River playing softly in the background? Well, now you can but while actually inside the building.
On November 10 Tiffany’s first foray into food, Blue Box Café, will open. Set on the newly renovated fourth floor of the 180-year-old jeweller’s flagship New York store, the café’s breakfast and lunch options are set to satisfy both appetites and Instagram feeds.
The menu is inspired by New York, and will change with the seasons. For breakfast, swap out your takeaway Danish and filter coffee for avocado toast, truffled eggs or smoked salmon bagels, or try the Fifth Avenue Salad made with Maine lobster, avocado and grapefruit for lunch.
If you’re looking to add even more opulence to your stay, the Tiffany Tea Service offers a selection of teas with an extensive range of sweets and pastries. All to be enjoyed while watching over Central Park through the café windows. of course.
Tucked towards the back of the floor, the compact café is decorated entirely in the iconic Tiffany blue shade – from the covers on the chairs to the bone china on the tables. Here, you’ll be completely immersed in all things Tiffany – a very deliberate decision, according to vice president creative director Richard Moore.
The “design of the space began from the idea of immersion in Tiffany—not only the feeling of being inside a blue box, but surrounded by Tiffany hospitality,” he told Vanity Fair.
So, the next time you find yourself in New York and in need of some breakfast, be sure to channel your inner Holly Golightly and head to Tiffany’s (oversized sunglasses and black Givenchy dress optional).
