Vinomofo has unveiled its limited edition, exclusive Homeless Grapes Project McLaren Vale Shiraz to raise funds to support ending homelessness in Australia, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to supporting Australia’s homeless population. This ‘17 vintage shiraz has been made by Chief Winemaker of Penny’s Hill, Alexia Roberts, renowned for making elegant, fruit-driven, single vineyard estate grown wine. The Homeless Grapes Project ‘17 vintage shiraz will be available for purchase through vinomofo.com from 17th of June 2018 at $20 per bottle, sold in a case of six. And with only 200 cases available, Vinomofo anticipates the wine will sell out within days of launch.

Neil Perry has taken his Burger Project uptown with the new Black Label venue in Grosvenor Place. Breakfast such as eggs or ricotta hotcakes gives way to burgers with Cape Grim beef or buttermilk-brined chicken, and salads.

Starward Whisky has released its first ever bottled cocktail with the Starward (New) Old Fashioned, in a format not yet seen in Australia. The (New) Old Fashioned has ten serves per bottle and can be stored in the fridge, ready to simply pull out and pour. In true Starward style however, the (New) Old Fashioned won’t be around forever, this will be a limited run with the intention to release a different bottled cocktail by springtime.

In celebration of World Gin Day on Saturday June 9th, Gin Lane will be celebrating with an all day Happy Hour from 12pm – 7pm. Melbourne favourite Supernormal Canteen has released its winter events calender with three upcoming events you’ll want to know about. Firstly, 18 June sees long-time friend and collaborator of Andrew McConnell’s, Phillip Moraghan and wife Rika Shimo-Moraghan bringing their own wine label, Shimora to the restaurant for an intimate dinner. A special menu has been developed by chef Tim Goegan to compliment the koshu wines, with a Japanese whiskey flight rounding out the meal. Tickets are $120. The next event sees Nick Stanton, of Ramblr, taking over the kitchen on 23 July for one night only, bringing his signature rock n’ roll vibes and a menu influenced by his recent travels to the USA. The eight course menu will feature local seafood, smokey flavours off the Hibachi grill and be available over two sittings at 6pm and 8:30pm. Tickets are $85. Lastly, Supernormal Canteen will mark its first birthday on 20 August by inviting former Golden Fields chef Brendan Liew back to the kitchen for one night only. Brendan and partner Caryn will be recreating some of their signature dishes, taking inspiration from their first book, Tokyo Local. Co-founder of MOLO Wine Bar, Riccardo Bernabei is making the produce he and the team use daily available to the public on the Wooloomooloo wharf throughout winter. The latest Four Hands Collaboration to hit Olio Kensington Street sees Chef Ivan Brehm from Nouri in Singapore, make his way to Chippendale to cook alongside head chef, Lino Sauro for a 2 night Four Hands Collaboration Dinner on June 6th and 7th. Tickets are available from $120pp for food only and $170 with wine pairing. Dishes include black pepper spanner crab and kingish from Ivan Brehm and ravioli and osso buco from Lino Sauro.

The Daintree Ecolodge in Far North Queensland has welcomed a new era of sustainable dining with the appointment of Simone Watts as Head Chef of its Julaymba restaurant. A self-proclaimed environmental activist chef, Simone has introduced a truly sustainable approach to Julaymba’s seasonally driven culinary offering. Appointed in March this year, Simone brings with her a wealth of experience, having worked alongside some of Australia’s leading chefs including Adam D’Sylva (Coda and Tonka) and Greg Malouf (ex MoMo). Where possible, Simone sources produce from Daintree Ecolodge’s own sustainable vegetable patch, as well as drawing on an endless variety of produce from local suppliers.

Archie Rose has turned its attention to its food offering, with its bar menu now acting as a showcase for some of the best local produce around. Drop by the Archie Rose bar to enjoy a bevy of canned goods by Newtown’s Continental Deli, such as their Kinkawooka mussels from South Australia in chilli oil, octopus and tender braised beans with tomato From cheesemonger Kristen Allen just down the road in Alexandria there is an ash-rolled fresh goat’s cheese paired with sourdough from Iggy’s bread in Bronte.
