Piccolina Gelateria has expanded its reach in Melbourne with the arrival of a new space in St Kilda. The dessert-based den is just as chic as its fellow outposts, and has again been designed by renowned firm Hecker Guthrie. The 1950’s Southern Italian theme for which Piccolina has become famed remains in this new space – but we’re not complaining!

This is the third outpost for Sandra Foti’s growing Piccolina Gelateria brand, following stores in Hawthorne and Collingwood that began in 2015. Settled into the main drag of Acland Street in St Kilda, this new sweet spot will no doubt be a popular haunt come summer for Southsiders.

Award-winning studio Hecker Guthrie is behind the space, which is awash in Piccolina’s signature forest green. Taking pride of place within the new outlet is Piccolina’s feature pozetti bench clad in square-cut white Italian tiles. This is home to 20 silver containers of freshly made gelato, as well as four granita flavours. Nearby will sit a liquid chocolate fountain, which will trickle Piccolina’s homemade chocolate sauce 24/7.

All of your favourite flavours will be making an appearance at the St Kilda digs. Cult classics Better Than Nutella (gf), Passionfruit (gf,v), and Choc Brownie with 70.5% dark chocolate (gf, v) will be on the menu, alongside a rotating range of house specials. The gelato will remain handmade in-store each day, and crafted from 100 percent natural, high quality, local ingredients.

Moving bayside with the brand was the inevitable next step says founder Sandra Foti. “Since launching Piccolina I’ve always wanted to open bayside and the new site is a landmark for me as my third venue in Melbourne’s thriving St Kilda neighbourhood,” she explains.
