The most anticipated pub opening of the year is finally here with the announcement that the Lansdowne will open next Thursday, 15 June. With the folk from Mary’s and The Unicorn Hotel behind the operation you know it’s going to be good – deep-dish pizzas, beers and rock music have found a new home in this Sydney icon. Angel Place in the CBD has a handsome new destination. Bacco Osteria e Espresso is an Italian eatery from chefs Andrew Cibej and Scott Williams and co-owner Steve Anastasiou. It’s an all-day affair with a strong aperitivo and pasta game.

Bar Brosé co-owner Analiese Gregory has announced that she will be departing the Darlinghurst den for the chillier shores of Hobart come July. Analiese will be moving to the famed Franklin, taking over from head chef David Moyle who is focusing his energy on new Melbourne eatery Longsong. Taking the reins at Bar Brosé will be chef Adam Wolfers and restaurant manager Marc Dempsey, who will land late June with a new Eastern-European inspired menu.

There’s no shortage of reasons to visit Sydney’s vibrant Kensington Street precinct – and now Eastside Grill have added another very special one. Executive chef Stanley Wong and Head Chef Angie Ford have curated a bespoke, once-monthly menu celebrating a different hero theme at each sitting, all within the warm and inviting industrial-chic surrounds of the restaurant’s site in the Old Rum Store Building. On the first Wednesday of each month, guests will enjoy five innovative dishes ($98) with the option of beautifully paired wines ($148) around the restaurant’s large dining table, ringside to the open kitchen. The first dinner kicks off on June 7 with dishes including a rich double-boiled beef brodo with organic wagyu beef striploin and a braised wagyu beef short rib with black garlic soubise. Diners were disappointed when super-cool Korean restaurant Moon Park closed last year. But Ben Sears, Eun Hee An and Ned Brooks are back with Paper Bird, a pan-Asian spot opening next month in Potts Point. It will serve three meals a day.

Stokehouse Q is celebrating the launch of its new raw menu with a five-course dinner with matching wines on June 14 by executive chef Richard Ousby and guest sashimi master Hajime Horiguchi of Tanto. $155, bookings: 3020 0600.

On an eclair day, you can see a lot at AU79. This new Abbotsford eatery has a dedicated bakery and pastry kitchen. AU79, the chemical symbol and atomic number for gold, is already known for its coffee-infused eclair.
