The Brisbane favourite will be turning its attention to a second CBD haunt.
It seems that Queensland’s Ghanem Group knows when it is on to a good thing. The Blackbird Bar & Grill owner has seen the riverside venue gain quite the reputation on the Brisbane food scene (in fact the steak-favouring venue landed an impressive number 9 on the Delicious. 100 for Queensland). With a handful of other successful ventures amidst its existing portfolio (namely Byblos and Lord of the Wings), the company is set to expand again into the CBD.
The Ghanem Group has secured the heritage-listed building on the corner of George and Elizabeth Streets in the Brisbane CBD. Rumours are rife that a fine-dining Chinese institution is on its way, one that will be called Donna Chang.
Slated for opening in June of this year, the food and drink on offer will be led by existing team members, namely group executive chef Jake Nicolson and group sommelier Penny Grant. They will be joined by Jason Margaritis from Melbourne’s Spice Temple as head chef, and former Il Centro sommelier Shawn Gomes as general manager.
