Buon appetito!
Lucio’s may have left Paddington, but locals will not be without fresh pasta and panna cotta for long.
Civico 47, a new Italian restaurant by acclaimed chef Matteo Zamboni (Ormeggio, Pilu at Freshwater, Jonah’s) has conveniently stepped in.
You’re unlikely to confuse the two. The venue has been given a fresh new fit-out inspired by Italian summers. The sand-coloured walls have been repainted a clean white, which is matched by crimson banquettes and honey timber furniture.

Zamboni’s menu combines Italian tradition with premium Australian produce, with dishes like beef carpaccio with macadamia and brussels sprout, and lamb rump with leek and desert lime.
“The menu is all about the flavours, seasonality and quality of the produce. Simple but skilled transformations of the ingredients combined with a strong Italian influence,” said Zamboni.
The wine list revolves around Italian varietals, supported by a selection of French and Australia vinos. There’s also classic Italian cocktails and a selection of amaro for digestivi.

Civico 47 translates as ‘house number 47’, and Zamboni hopes that his new restaurant will feel like home to its guests.
“I love this location, its history, the new decor, and the layout of the dining rooms. They give a comforting ambient vibe while dining at Civico,”
“The food is connected to the suburban location, it’s like going to friends for a special lunch or dinner,” he said.
