One door closes and another one opens.
Sydney dining institution Fratelli Fresh has said goodbye to its Potts Point venue as it eyes greater plans for expansion around the country. The part grocer, part restaurant had made the inner east its home since 2013, when it was first opened by Barry McDonald. The venue has since changed hands and new owners Rockpool Dining Group have decided to close the doors of the beloved foodie destination.
The decision to discontinue the lease was based on rising rent costs in the area. Instead, the hospitality group has decided to focus on expansion around both Sydney and Melbourne, including the most recent Fratelli Fresh addition in the Entertainment Quarter (formerly Fox Studios). The mammoth space contains both indoor and outdoor dining areas, complete with a beer garden.
It is not known just yet who will take over the Macleay Street space, but considering its inner city location there is little doubt that it will remain empty for long.
