One of SA's best restaurants has opened in inner-city Adelaide

Fine food and wine without the drive.

One of the Barossa Valley’s best-loved restaurants has opened an outpost on Flinders Street, bringing the best of regional dining to inner-city Adelaide.

Owned by David Swain and Sharon Romeo, the new 70-seater wine bar and eatery has all the hallmarks of a contemporary cellar door, from its exposed brick walls to its terracotta tiles and sturdy timber wine racks.

There’s seating for both diners and drop-ins, from the burnt orange booths that offer an intimate experience through to stools at the bar, for a quick, post-work shiraz.

The slender dining room is also flanked by two communal tables, which add to the convivial atmosphere, however, the best seats are those at the back counter, which offer unrivaled views into the open kitchen.

Owner and executive chef David Swain has worked with former Brae chef Joe Carey to put together the menu, which focuses on pretty, produce-heavy plates, from flatbread with oyster cream, peas and zucchini to fresh tomatoes dressed in a bone marrow vinaigrette. The house dessert is charred pineapple doused in rum and served with a sweet and light sabayon.

As the name implies, the drinks list specialises in fine wines, with vinos sourced from both home and abroad.
