Former Icebergs chefs and culinary couple Monty and Jaci Koludrovic have announced that they will depart Byron for Los Angeles this year, where they will head up a new multi-level Italo-Australian restaurant and rooftop bar.

The new venue will take over from famous former recording studio, Grandmaster Recorders, which was created by musician Alan Dickson in the 70s. The studio saw a generation of legendary musicians record there, from Stevie Wonder to Billy Idol, Davie Bowie, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West, and more.

While the name won’t change, the venue will be redeveloped to include a dining hall, a recording studio bar and an impressive rooftop area, which will seat 300 and offer incredible views of the Hollywood Hills.

In keeping with the tradition of the site, live music will be a regular feature in the recording studio bar, which will stay open until 2am each night.

Much like Icebergs Dining Room and Bar in Bondi, Grandmaster Recorders will serve a modern Australian take on Italian cuisine.

Monty Koludrovic said: “It’s important to us that the food at Grandmaster Recorders represents our location as much as it represents the rich history of Italian food. We don’t like being too bound by tradition, we like making food that is delicious and fun.”

The new venue marks the latest project from The Botanical Group, which also includes West Hollywood’s E.P. & L.P.
