The E.P & L.P chef will head up a new eatery on the Howard Smith Wharves.
Since announcing his return to Australia in May, it has been a battle of the states to see which would nab the now-famous Mullumbimby chef first. Brisbane has emerged victorious, with new Cantonese eatery, Stanley, confirming that Louis Tikaram is set to join the team as head chef.
Tikaram started his cheffing career in Sydney, where he worked across fine dining institutions like Longrain, Bentley and Tetsuya’s, before going on to open his own restaurant, E.P & L.P in California. His Asian fusion joint quickly caught on, winning over the Hollywood crowds (and critics alike) with its fresh, punchy fare and unpretentious vibes.
Tikaram said diners at Stanley can expect to see traditional Cantonese-style dishes like Peking duck, dim sum and stir-fries on the menu, as well as more modern dishes comprising local seafood, barbecue and roasted meats.
“My Chinese/Fijian grandmother and her recipes have always been the biggest influences in my cooking, and I always stay true to that. It’s a dream come true to be able to bring that to Stanley,” he said.
The new venue, which is slated to open in October this year, will slot into the Howard Smith Wharves alongside notable neighbours, Greca, Mr Percival’s and Arc Dining.
