Love everything tropical? Then you’ll dig Bondi’s newest restaurant

There’s a seriously summery new establishment landing in the East.

There are those venues who embrace the urban when it comes to design, but Upper East Side Bondi is not one of them. The latest addition to the beachside mecca is the opposite of monochromatic, rather an obvious fan of the tropics. The new restaurant is awash with plenty of palm trees and tropical foliage, brick, driftwood, and bamboo furniture. And, of course, strings of fairy lights throughout.

The beachside vibe of the restaurant is again embraced in Upper East Side’s cuisine. The self-proclaimed ‘immersive dining experience’ offers guests a selection of contemporary Australian fare, heavy on the seafood options and most intended to be shared among friends.

Stand-outs include the Bloody Mary Tempura Oysters, a Smoked Fish Finger Milk Bun Slider with Lettuce and Rosemary Mayo, and a slow cooked Wagyu. Those sweet of tooth can’t go past the fried blueberry and banana bread.

Being a Bondi venue, there are of course also plenty of drinks offerings on hand to sip on throughout the day and into the night. Cocktails continue the beachside trend, including the restaurant’s twist on the traditional in the The Upper East Side Colada, where Havana Especial rum mingles with coconut puree, lime, pineapple and Blu Curacao.

While lunch and dinner is the focus from Monday to Friday, weekends see Upper East Side offer a brunch selection. There’s the likes of light dishes including a macadamia muesli with sheep’s milk yoghurt and toffee apples, or the heartier corn and cuttlefish fritter with poached egg, parmesan and coriander to choose from.
