Keep calm and curry on.
Jessi Singh, the renowned restaurateur behind Mrs Singh, Daughter in Law and Horn Please has just opened his sixth venue, an Indian-British hotel in South Melbourne and it’s a real party palace.
Spread over three levels, the Mr Brownie Rooftop Hotel is home to a number of different drinking, dining and dancing spaces. At the bottom level, you’ll find the Boom Boom Room, a basement cocktail lounge equipped with a bar and D-floor.

On the ground floor is the main pub area, where guests can settle in for some Indian-British pub grub, such as a butter chicken pie with curry chips or crispy samosa burger. Out the back, you’ll find a sunny beer garden, where you can kick back with a beer, wine or pet-nat on tap. There’s also an attached bottle-o stocked with 500 beers (yes, that’s five zero zero) for your takeaway needs.
Once you’ve explored levels one and two, make your way up to the rooftop terrace, where you can dance the night away to live DJs with a mai tai in hand.

While Mr Singh’s venues are known for their bright Bollywood fit-outs, for Mr Brownie, he’s sticking to one shade in particular – lipstick red. The seductive shade colours the entire venue, from curtains to clamshell lounges and lighting included.
“There’s a real sense of community in South Melbourne that we can’t wait to be a part of. If you’re picking up takeaways, popping in for a drink or staying for a dance, Mr Brownie welcomes everyone,” Jessi Singh said.
Mr Brownie Rooftop Hotel opens July 2, 2020.
