A new restaurant devoted to the Sunday roast has opened in Potts Point

Give nan the night off.

No more waiting for Sunday to roll around. Morgan McGlone, the owner and head chef of Belles Hot Chicken, has just opened a roast chicken restaurant in Potts Point inspired by the Sunday roast.

Sunday serves up a proper roast dinner every day of the week, so you don’t have to spend your evenings sweating over the stove in the name of a hearty homestyle dinner.

Forget the oven, head chef Ryan Blagrove cooks his free-range Bannockburn chickens in a state-of-the-art French rotisserie in order to achieve a level of succulence never before seen on nan’s dining table.

Turn it into ‘meat and three veg’ by selecting a few of your favourite sides from the menu. Beyond the fries, there’s roast seasonal vegetables, coleslaw and a winning Waldorf salad, made from witlof with walnuts, apple and pickled grapes in a creamy house dressing.

But first, start with the chip butty, a bite-sized milk bun stuffed with crispy chips, curry leaves and Sunday’s special sauce – a spicy Madras mayo.

Finish your plate and you’re allowed ice cream for dessert. Sunday has partnered with Rivareno Gelato to create the Sunday sundae, made from two seasonal scoops, drizzled with bourbon chocolate sauce, toasted coconut and wafers.

And, unlike at nan’s house, you can also order a pre-batched cocktail created by 2018 Bartender of the Year, Jenna Hemsworth. Trade up the lemon squash for a cold drip martini, margarita, Aperol spritz or negroni, or choose from one of the local brews or natural wines on offer.
