Sydney's Nomad to open in Melbourne next year

Cook for the Bush - Sydney

And it'll be well worth the trek.

Like its namesake, acclaimed Sydney restaurant Nomad is on the move, with the venue set to open an offshoot in Melbourne next year.

The new restaurant and bar will follow in its sister’s footsteps with a menu that celebrates the culinary methods of old, from pickling to fermenting, baking and smoking.

Diners can expect house-made charcuterie, cheese and its extremely memorable wood-fired bread. Just don’t count on the orange blossom sundae making the journey down south, with the venue set to get a flurry of new dishes inspired by the local Victorian produce.

The new venue will be housed on Flinders Lane, with Melbourne-based architect Clare Cousins on board to create a raw yet refined fit-out for the 150-seater space.

Moves will also be made in the kitchen, with Nomad head chef Jacqui Challinor stepping into the role of executive chef, and sous chef Sam McCallum taking on the post of head chef in Sydney.

Nomad is slated to open at 189 Flinders Lane, Melbourne in June 2020.
