You’ve never seen BYO like this before

Bespoke dining redefined by an Italian institution.

Lucio’s Italian Restaurant in Paddington may best be known as the place with the plates. The burgeoning collection of decorative plates that hang on the venue’s feature wall were created by some of Australia’s most talented artists, all friends of owner Lucio Galletto. There’s plates by John Olsen, Reg Mombassa, and Garry Shead among them, and each marks another year in which Lucio’s has called the Sydney space home.

This year marks the 35th birthday of the beloved Paddington establishment, and alongside another plate, Lucio’s will also celebrate its 35th birthday with a rather special take on BYO. The Northern Italian hotspot has introduced the Your Cellar experienced, where guests are welcomed to select four wines from their home cellar and the restaurant will design a bespoke four-course menu to match.

The price is $150 per person and is available for groups of six to ten guests, with the opportunity to add additional wines and courses if desired. Of course, there are a few restrictions – wines must be of cellaring age but corkage fees are waived. Available for lunch and dinner from Tuesday through Saturday, Your Cellar also requires one week’s notice of your wine picks.

The BYO initiative is just one of a handful of specials the restaurant has introduced in celebration of its 35th birthday. For Galletto it’s important that the community can enjoy the festivities alongside the restaurant. “I look forward to continue celebrating with our regulars, and welcoming a new generation of diners with our series of unique, and approachable innovations as tribute to our 35 years,” he says. “Paddington reminds me of the villages I grew up in Italy, and I can’t think of a finer place to continue calling home.”
