It’s the kind of place you should probably book.
Sydney’s newest Japanese restaurant is set to be snug, with the new micro diner seating just 10 people a night.
Called Teramoto by Kuro, the venue will be omakase only, with a special set menu prepared and served by head chef and owner, Taka Teramoto. As per the Japanese tradition, diners will sit at a countertop that will wrap around the kitchen, so they can watch Teramoto at work.
While the menu is still a work in progress, diners can expect upscale dishes like wagyu tartare seared on binchō-tan charcoal and raw squid sashimi in tomato dashi with sliced taro stem.

While seats might be scarce for Teramoto by Kuro, sharing the space will be a second offering, Kuro Bar & Dining, which will offer an a la carte menu and seating for 40.
This more casual offering will serve contemporary Japanese cuisine, created by head chef Nobu Maruyama, formerly of Bar H. Kuro will also open as a brew bar by day, pumping out tea, coffee and snacks for the early morning crowds.
Taking over from Canvas Bar on Kent Street, architects Henderson & Co will redesign the space, drawing inspiration from Japanese architecture and craftsmanship.
Teramoto by Kuro and Kuro Bar & Dining are slated to open at 364 Kent Street, Sydney in September. For more details, head to kurosydney.com
