And it’s by the Golden Century gang.
The clams with a cult following are finally getting their very own restaurant. Called XOPP by Golden Century, Sydney’s newest shrine to sweet and salty pipis will open on the mezzanine level of Darling Square’s Exchange Building in August this year.
The new 160-seater restaurant will mark the third for the Golden Century Group, and is set to be the most contemporary yet. The new venue will be run by Billy Wong, the son of Golden Century owners Eric and Linda Wong, who is committed to keeping the tradition of late night pipis alive.
“People always have traditions and stories about dining at Golden Century; whether to celebrate family and friends’ gatherings, birthdays and milestones, or after concerts or late nights out. We want XOPP to be a place where more memories are created and shared,” Billy said.

The venue will occupy one of Sydney’s most talked about buildings, a spiraling, hive-shaped structure by world-renowned Japanese designer, Kengo Kuma. XOPP will also be joined by a handful of other well-renowned eateries, including Andy Bowdy’s Saga café, Boque by Tapavino, and Japanese pasta joint Pasta Wafu, which are set to be neighbours in The Exchange.
While we anticipate lots of late night scoffing going on, XOPP will also include a dedicated bar space and a small plates menu, for a more refined pre-dinner experience.
Alongside pipis in XO sauce, the menu will include a number of other traditional Cantonese delicacies, which we hope includes their sweetly lacquered Chinese barbecue pork and the wok fried snow crab tangled with buttery egg noodles.
