Bathe in the beauty of Circular Quay at golden hour at this new riviera-inspired rooftop bar by Sydney’s salumi specialists, Salt Meats Cheese. The new venue will perch on the rooftop of the Gateway building, offering a cheeky peek across the Sydney Opera House and harbour below.

Like Salt Meats Cheese, the focus will be on fresh, simple Italian flavours. Let your fingers skim through small plates, like the fontina arancini, fried calamari or housemade Italian cheese with honeyed walnuts. For something starchier, you can also order pastas or wood fired pizzas downstairs and they will deliver it to the bar.

Inspired by the rooftop setting, the drinks list will focus on easy-drinking cocktails and refreshing spritzes, in flavours like grapefruit, cucumber and rose. A selection of cocktail carafes allows you to show your generous side and there’s bound to be plenty of takers for the sunset-hued margarita and spiced Pimms cup. The wine list will revolve around new world drops with a focus on biodynamic, organic and vegan vinos.

Bar Ombré will offer a top rate happy hour, with the venue handing out $5 beers and wines, $10 spritzes and $20 cocktail carafes every day from 4pm – 6pm. Following happy hour, there’ll be free snacks at the bar from 6pm – 8pm, with nibbles like smoked olives, cured pancetta and truffle pecorino up for the taking.

Sunset shades will inform the interiors, with fiery orange hues playing out in the wire seating, padded banquettes and soft furnishings. There will also be plenty of lush greenery – think potted banana ferns and hanging baskets channeling the Mediterranean coastline.
