New kid on the block, Daughter in Law, is the latest opening by renowned chef and restauranteur Jessi Singh. Following on from siblings, Horn Please, Babu Ji and Don’t Tell Aunty, the newest member of the family will serve up ‘inauthentic’ Indian-Australian fare from a luxe Bollywood-inspired setting.

The inventive menu will include Indian meets Western creations, like lamb chops cooked in a tandoor with mint chutney and curry fries, and naan bread pizzas topped with chilli cheese, masala prawns and tandoori chicken.

Start with the colourful papadum platters, stocked with little pots of cumin-spiced yoghurt, pickled mango and date and tamarind chutney, then follow up with the beef tartare spiced up with green mango powder and dried pomegranate, served in a pani puri crepe cup.

Accompanying the menu will be an innovative wine list developed by Sacha Imrie (ex-Marion Wine Bar) that focuses on new world wines with a strong offering from California. Help yourself to a beer from the self-serve fridge or put in an order for a boozy mango lassi or beetroot and mezcal cocktail from the bar.

The 95-seater venue has debuted a flamboyant fit-out that looks and sounds like a 70s Bollywood set. The dining room combines dusty pink walls with jewel-hued lounges in sapphire blue and emerald green. Projected scenes from famous Bollywood films will flicker on the walls alongside a soundtrack of boppy Hindi tunes.
