After five years sitting in South Bondi, Panama House has found a new home overlooking Bondi Beach. Sitting on Campbell Parade, the all-day Latin American restaurant and bar has reopened with a new look courtesy of local design star Jason Grant and a new menu to boot. Head chef Sean Kiely has crafted a menu that Panama hopes will become the go-to for takeaway coffee, all day brunch (bottomless mimosas included), share plates, and sundowner cocktails. The fare is a merge between Latin American and Australian flavours with an all-day brunch is served until 4pm that includes a corned beef hash brown on a bed of spinach topped with a poached egg, roast tomato and chipotle hollandaise. There’s a gumbo omelette stuffed with prawns and chorizo on a bed of habanero corn bread with black beans and salsa verde. At night, the menu turns share-style. There’s Chargrilled WA octopus with chorizo esquites and salsa verde, there’s slow roasted mojo marinated pork belly with celeriac slaw, jalapeno cream, desiccated red chilli and chervil; and Jamaican jerk spatchcock with edamame beans, black beans, borlotti and rocket salad, charred corn and chimichurri. A 50-strong wine list accompanies, with vino from both Australia and South America. Cocktails, of course, are also at the ready.
