Located in the centre of Sydney’s urban jungle, this new explorer-themed bar offers adventurous types a taste of far-flung cultures, from its globe-trotting food and drinks menu to its safari-style interiors.

Jackalberry’s fit-out was created by Belinda Cendron, the stylist behind The Baxter Inn and Shady Pines Saloon. Key features include the circular booth seating in soft forest colours and the venue’s richly illustrated wallpaper. Materials like rattan and stone have been contrasted with rich velvets to create a distinct time-worn feel. “It is an adventurous space reflecting the work and studies of botanists and voyagers – a retreat for the modern-day explorer,” Cendron said.

The cocktail menu will read like a travel itinerary, taking voyagers through the bamboo forest of Japan to the Amazonian jungle and everywhere in between. “We have worked hard to design a cocktail menu that will transport guests to Tanzania one evening, and Italy the next through experimentation of flavours and presentation,” said Jackalberry bar manager, Stuart Thompson.

The bar food menu will traverse Europe, Asia and the Americas, with influences taken from all over. You’ll be able to sample Norwegian-style smoked cod fritters served with sea vegetables alongside Moroccan dishes like pumpkin flowers stuffed with date, kumara puree and bronze fennel.
