We dislike this, Facebook.
We’ve all been there – a former colleague invites you to his son’s soccer team’s bake stall… at 8am on a Saturday morning. You can’t be bothered to decline… but you’re definitely not about to accept, either. So you ignore. You pretend you never saw it in the first place.
OK, OK – it’s not exactly best practice. It’s not the way you win friends and influence people. Sure, we get it. But it’s, you know… the easiest way to deal it. Right?
Not according to FB, who are putting an end to all of this. They’re implementing “read receipts,” so that you and your mates can now see who’s accepted, who’s declined – and who just hasn’t bothered to do anything.
If it’s your party, great (or not – do you really want to see who hasn’t replied?). But if you’re the guest, isn’t it better not to have to decline those nine other NYE party invites, just so you can go to the one you really want to go to??
FB, we dislike.
