Arnott’s has released its most popular biscuits of the year and what is Salada doing in there

Salada is so close to both sad and salad and it shows.

You’ve got some explaining to do, Australia. Today, Arnott’s has revealed its 10 most popular biscuits for the year and Salada has ranked at six. Six.

The top dogs aren’t exactly shocking, with Chicken Crimpy shapes taking bronze, Barbecue shapes taking silver, and the OG Tim Tams nabbing gold and frankly there is absolutely no reason why these God-tier biccies are even in the same sentence as Saladas.

If you’re in the apparent minority and haven’t bought Saladas this year, these beige savoury biscuits are basically the punishment of crackers. Dry, bland, so entirely middle of the road that they rely on toppings like sharp cheddar, juicy tomatoes, vegemite, or scalding hot chilli sauce to bring even the lightest of flutters to one’s taste buds.

Ok fine, that may be extreme and of course there is a time and a place for this blank canvas but seriously, top 10?

For further context, Saladas are nestled between Mint Slices at rank seven, and Pizza shapes at spot five. You can see why we’re perplexed.

The entire list goes as follows:

10. Scotch Finger
9. Monte Carlo
8. Tim Tam Double Coat
7. Mint Slice
6. Salada
5. Pizza Shapes
4. Jatz
3. Chicken Crimpy Shapes
2. Barbecue Shapes
1. Tim Tam Originals

Arnott’s has also revealed just how much we love their biscuits, both sweet and savoury. 94 per cent of Australian households buy Arnott’s biscuits annually, 2.8 million households bought Tim Tams, 2.4 million bought Barbecue Shapes and 359 million Arnott’s biscuits were sold over the whole year.

There are also over 200 varieties of Arnott’s biscuits which leads us straight back to the beginning, why the heck Saladas?
