Carriageworks' Summer Seasonal Market Returns 2024 - Food Files

This is not a drill – cherry season is here.

There will be a bit of Christmas magic in the air when Carriageworks Summer Seasonal Market returns to Eveleigh on Saturday, December 7.

The quarterly event showcases the best produce of the season, sold direct by NSW farmers and producers, with the summer edition delivering so much of what we know and love about an Australian Christmas. Shoppers can stock up on flowers, stone fruits and vegetables alongside specialty items like organic, biodynamic and sustainably farmed meats, seafood, and even freshly cut pine trees (courtesy of seasonal stall holder Dural Christmas Tree Farm). Drive In Orchards also makes its yuletide market return, with boxes of fresh cherries.

The Summer Seasonal Market’s curated program will be hosted by delicious. Editor in Chief Krysia Bonkowski, with three back-to-back cooking demonstrations gifting you plenty of inspiration for your summer table.

From 9am, Nadine Ingram from Flour and Stone will be preparing a creation from her new book, Love Crumbs, which uses two bumper summer crops – rhubarb and ginger. Bring your copy, as Nadine will be around for book signings afterwards.

Carriageworks Summer Seasonal Market — Tis the season for summer produce.

From 9:50am, chef and seafood expert Tommy Prosser from stallholder Crustacean Nation will take to the stage to whip up a dish built around top-tier sashimi and market finds, from Enokido Miso to Block 11 organic produce.

Lastly, from 10:30am, Darran Baker, of market regular Demoiselle Distillery, will be mixing up three festive cocktails using the small-batch spirits he creates as head distiller at the Centre Tablelands distillery.

Carriageworks favourites will also return, including food stands where you can rustle up brunch and lunch for devouring perched on milk crates, such as bakes from Sonoma and AP Bakery, wok-tossed plates by Hotluck Club, sourdough crumpets by Merna, coffee from Single O, kombucha on tap from Herbs of Life and more.
