If you're squeamish, look away now.

Somehow, the Stanley Cup cult of the internet has just discovered that yes, you do actually have to clean your water bottle.

A series of horrifying TikToks shows creators disassembling their water vessels to reveal a build up of mould and nightmares around the lids and we are upset.

Anyone who has cleaned a kid’s Bbox bottle or forgotten their KeepCup in the backseat of the care (it’s ok, we’ve all been there) knows exactly how important it is to clean these puppies thoroughly and regularly.

In 2024 we don’t gatekeep, so we’re going to let you in on the ultimate cleaning hack to get your water bottle, mugs, enamel cookware, basically everything, sparkling like new. Just head to the chemist and grab some denture cleaning tablets.

Yep. Those little Aspirin-like tablets work a treat in removing the biofilm and stains that can form on your coffee mugs, jewellery, plumbing, and of course your stainless steel water bottles.

Remove all parts of your Stanley Cup (the straw, the cap, the anti-leak mechanism), fill with warm water and pop a denture tablet inside and let it sit for a few minutes, et voila!

If you’ve got plastic containers that have been stained with last week’s bolognese, the tablets will do the exact same thing and have your Tupperware shiny and new in no time.

If you’ve got baked-on cooking gunk, soak your pots and pans with a tablet or two and cut your scrubbing time in half.

Clogged your sink? Break up a couple of tablets into a cup of white vinegar and pour it down the drain. Come back in half an hour and run hot water until the clog clears. Happy fishies, happy dishies.

A pack of 30 denture tablets will set you back around $7 so it’s great for your wallet, better for the environment than many conventional cleaners, and you can keep hydrated without worrying about any little grubbies in your bottle.

Oh, and you can clean your dentures with them too.
