Not a fan of this decision.
It’s the day we hoped would never come. Allen’s has announced it is discontinuing everyone’s favourite lockjaw lollies. Allen’s broke the news to its Fantale fanbase with an announcement on Facebook.
“Today we’re sharing the sad news that we are deleting Fantales,” the post read.
“We know Fantales is a product that many of us grew up with, whether they were enjoyed on trips to the movies, or eaten on family trivia nights – however, this iconic Aussie lolly has been experiencing declining sales. Like you, we are sad to say goodbye. We anticipate that Fantales will be available until the end of July 2023, so make sure you stock up and take yourself down memory lane with our trivia questions.
“Rest assured we’re continuing to make our other delicious Allen’s lollies, including favourites such as Snakes Alive, Party Mix and Minties.”
Snakes Alive? Minties? Sorry, Allen’s but this is not going to cut it.
In three hours, the post had garnered almost 5,000 comments, all asking for Allen’s to reconsider its decision.
“That’s horrible news, whoever’s behind this decision should be sent to jail,” one person commented.
“PLEASE DON’T DO THIS!!!! Fantales are seriously my all-time favourite sweets! I cannot imagine life without them!!!” another remarked.
Quick, someone start a petition to bring them back again.
The iconic choccies were created in 1930, and are famous for the movie trivia which is printed on the wrapper.
Fantales will remain on sale as long as stock lasts, so if you’re at the shops right now can you pick us up a few packets please (as many as they have)?
