Fans of the yolk will find a friend in Good Egg.

With Australians undoubtedly devotees of brunch and with eggs being the main staple, it was only a matter of time before an egg-focused eatery rose within Australian borders. While a concept that has emerged further afield such as New York, it is only recently that Australia welcomed its first egg-devoted cafe with the arrival of Melbourne’s Good Egg. From 7.30am to 3.30pm seven days a week, the cafe serves up a menu that (surprise, surprise) integrates eggs within every single item. There’s scrambled, soft-boiled, fried, crumbed and even the traditional Scotch egg available for the enthusiast.

But, most remarkably for the eatery, it’s Good Egg by name, good egg by nature. The yolk-favouring space is just as dedicated to its conscience as it is its ingredients, utilising real eggs sourced from an open range egg farm in Victoria. There’s also nitrate-free bacon and fresh challah bun on the menu that is baked free from the use of any kind of chemicals. “we try our best to source responsible packaging solutions, and make a conscious effort to use local suppliers who share our philosophy,” explains the cafe of its mantra.
