Our September issue celebrates the Aussie producers delivering the goods to our table

Our homegrown issue shines a light on the best in Aussie produce and the growers and makers behind it.

The arrival of spring heralds some of the country’s sweetest bounty and we’ve laid it all out before you. Take your pick from fresh seasonal vegetables, prepared by Danielle Alvarez, sustainable seafood feasts by Josh Niland (including his famed smoked trout rillettes recipe) as well as local barbecued meats by protein powerhouse, Anthony Puharich and Monty Koludrovic.

Our September issue also includes all the winners from 2019 delicious. Harvey Norman Produce Awards, paying tribute to the dedicated farmers, makers, growers and producers who bring the goods to our table. From raw milk feta to pastured quail, red wheat flour and sheep whey gin, we give you the most innovative, ethical, sustainable and most importantly delicious produce of the year.

Don’t tell the Country Women’s Association, but we may have rejigged a few of their recipes. Our mod Oz feature is made up of next-gen hits from a ham and cheddar tart made with golden Jatz pastry to bacon and egg scones and a beaut chicken stuffing sausage roll.

Vegemite and cheese scones.

Matt Moran gives afternoon tea a makeover with his special scone section and we think even nan will be impressed. Forget the jam and cream, these fluffy flour-dusted delights are remade in flavours like double cheese and mustard, lemon and fennel with hot smoked trout, as well as an epic cheese and vegemite pull-apart scone loaf with a vintage cheddar crust.

And let’s not forget our stunning cover, a salted caramel and pretzel cheesecake finished with a pecan shortbread crumble. It’s just one of many show-stopping cheesecakes by delicious. food director and cake queen Phoebe Wood, appearing in this month’s issue.

Lord Howe Island.
