Don't panic but a gin yoghurt has hit the market

Yoghurt

It gives a whole new meaning to a liquid breakfast.

Gin may well be the alcoholic beverage of choice for 2017. The spirit has found itself partnered with everything from tarts to salmon. But the latest way to enjoy your gin is with breakfast.

The Sainsbury’s in the UK recently introduced a gin yoghurt to its shelves. Rachel’s Organic Greek-style Lemon & Gin yoghurt contains 0.25 percent alcohol and was created in celebration of the brand’s 25-year relationship with the supermarket.

It’s a product that has jumped aboard the world’s continuing obsession with the spirit, with the brand describing it as an “irresistible burst of freshness which you can enjoy pre-5pm”. Exclusive to the supermarket, the gin yoghurt costs just £2 and is proving so successful that the supermarket is already looking to expand on its gin-based snacks.

Sainsbury’s food development chef Nicola Bramley told the BBC that the gin trend won’t be departing anytime soon. She says that gin sales are rising 25 percent with each year, and the trend “isn’t limited to your glass of G&T” with plans for the supermarket to introduce a smoked salmon pate with gin and tonic glaze next.
