The Domestic Goddess in coming back Down Under.

It’s been a long two years since she last graced our shores, but Nigella Lawson is set to return January 21 to the Sydney Opera House for Nigella Lawson: A Celebration of Home Cooking, an evening of food-filled conversation. The evening will see Nigella joined by social psychologist Hugh Mackay to explore the deeper meaning of food and its connection to pleasure, belonging and creativity.

One of the main topics of the night will surely be her latest book, At My Tablereleased earlier this year, which sees Nigella return to a more simple, comforting and familiar style of home cooking. Often acknowledging her own lack of professional kitchen skills, Nigella’s new book sees a focus on taste over technique and flavour over fuss, and quite frankly we love her all the more for it.

Beyond her new book, we can no doubt expect to hear plenty of advice and anecdotes on the night, all delivered with Nigella’s trademark wit and wisdom.

The last time she was in Australia, Nigella nearly broke the internet with her announcement that, when eating scones, she puts the cream on before the jam, which was greeted with shocked silence and disbelief from the crowd.  Keep in mind; she was talking about clotted cream, a much thicker version than what us Aussies are used to putting on our scones. Whether or not Nigella decides to drop another culinary bombshell on us will remain to be seen.

Tickets for the event go on sale tomorrow, Wednesday 12 December at midday to Sydney Opera House members, with tickets for the general public being released Friday 15 December. Tickets start from $39 with the additional option to buy a copy of At My Table, at the discounted price of $30. Tickets are available from sydneyoperahouse.com.
