The avocado obsession is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, the avocado is no longer just a preferred toast topping but has made its way into the world of chocolate. Back by popular demand, UK supermarket chain Waitrose has re-released their decadent chocolate avocado Easter Egg.
The Millennial-focused treat became the fastest selling own-brand chocolate ever sold in the supermarket’s 114-year history in 2018. Sold for £8, the sugary treat that may look the spitting image of a ripe avocado, but is in reality a combination of dark and white chocolate. White chocolate and food dye are used to create the green flesh, while 70 per cent of Belgian dark chocolate is behind the dark chocolate shell and inner stone.
In addition to the original chocolate avocado Easter Egg, Waitrose has also released two baby miniature versions as well as jelly avocadoes.
But if you are interested in grabbing one for yourself, Easter egg buyer Elizabeth Sutcliffe recommends you move fast, as “[Waitrose] expect them all to be snapped up before Easter.”
