And it's to be held at the Sydney Opera House.
2017 has been a big year in terms of female empowerment, and it looks like the trend is set to continue well into the next. The All About Women Festival is set to return in 2018 for its sixth annual event, setting up shop in the Sydney Opera House.
In 2018, All About Women will be celebrating 100 years of feminism (after all it’s been roughly a century since women gained suffrage). The schedule will see a series of talks, discussions and workshops that take a look at women in all aspects of culture – from politics to art and even food.
The event will see a handful of international and local storytellers, thinkers and game-changers integrated into a one-day program on Sunday March 4. Most notable guests include Vanity Fair contributing editor Fran Lebowitz, #Metoo founder Tarana Burke, and veteran journalist Tracey Spicer.
But, most notably for the foodies among us, there will also be a culinary element to this year’s proceedings. There will be both live podcasts and lessons available for attendees that will see Harriet Leigh from Archie Rose run a workshop to design your own gin, Alex Elliott Howery from Cornersmith show you everything you need to know about pickling, and a cheese making class with Kirsten Allen, the ‘cheese maker’.
Head of Talks & Ideas at the Sydney Opera House Edwina Throsby is in charge of curation for this year for the first time. “In five years, All About Women has become the festival that no self-respecting feminist can afford to miss,” says Edwina. “I have loved the challenge of bringing together this amazing collection of people to talk about some of the biggest issues that face us.”
Tickets for All About Women will be on sale to the general public from December 14.
