And the public is divided. Words by Mariam Digges.
Life can be wrought with tough decisions, like whether to dip your chip in guacamole or melted cheese first, for instance.
One company has kindly solved this dilemma by combining these two great foods into the one product. Yes, guacamole cheese is here and we’re strangely not the least surprised. After all, this is the age of the avo-latte.
A Dutch company by the name of Daily Dairy Holland is behind the zany green mash-up named Amanti Guacamole Cheese, which sees cow’s milk gouda cheese blended with real avocado, lime juice, tomato, onion, garlic and chilli.
Being a Gouda means the end product is firm, best enjoyed with crackers or bread, we suppose. But that’s not to say you couldn’t melt it into the ultimate toastie-filler, or gooey Mexican queso-style dip. While we’re on the subject, it would also make a killer taco topper, nachos side or rice pimper.
We should probably stop right there, as Amanti’s giant green wheel of guac cheese (sold whole or by the wedge) isn’t available Down Under as yet. If you’re US-bound, it will be stocked at The Fresh Market just in time for Cinco de Mayo spreads.
The guac-cheese has enjoyed a mixed reception on social media, with the mash-up proving too much for some non-millennials.
Not being a millennial, I am offended, intrigued, but also disgusted. Hmm. #Letztermensch

It’s not cheap, priced at $24.99/lb but then, can you put a price on genius?
