A huge new range of Indigenous-owned native ingredients is coming to Woolworths supermarkets

Elevate your pantry with products sustaining 60,000 years of native food culture.

These days, it’s not uncommon to spot native ingredients on the menus of inner-city restaurants around the country. But when Sharon Winsor, a Ngemba Weilwan Woman from western New South Wales, began her proudly Aboriginal-owned business, Indigiearth, few cooks had begun using native ingredients in commercial kitchens. Though native foods have been thrust under the mainstream spotlight in the 25 years since Winsor started out, rarely do we see these ingredients used in homes. Now, Winsor is helping to make native ingredients more accessible via Woolworths.

While Winsor’s award-winning business Indigiearth, which includes her Mudgee-based cafe by the same name, has been bringing 60,000 years of native food culture to homes and businesses across the globe for years now, this is the first time her products have been available in select Woolworth stores.

The all-new line-up of products includes a Saltbush Dukkah, Outback Prairie Dust (a meat and poultry seasoning), Wild Lime Marmalade, Lilly Pilly Jam, Kakadu Plum Jam, Wild Peach Chutney, Bush Tomato Chutney, Quandong Milk Chocolate coated Macadamia, Wild Rosella Chocolate Coated Macadamia, Wattleseed Milk Chocolate Macadamia and Lemon Myrtle Chocolate Coated Macadamia.

Winsor, the CEO, start-up founder, mother, domestic violence survivor and storyteller grew up collecting bush foods and has been a strong proponent of Aboriginal food culture during her life. When it comes to making her products, she sources ingredients from Aboriginal communities who employ earth-friendly land management practices.

“Indigiearth is a trailblazing brand in many ways, but it’s also something I have been quietly working on since 1996. Now I feel the timing is right to take these products direct to mainstream audiences and to share my love of native ingredients.

Every product in my range is made from the highest quality ingredients using as many Australian products as possible while keeping the price point approachable. For me food is a unifying source for community and culture and I hope my products educate and nourish those that choose them, ” she says.

Indigiearth will initially stock its products at Woolworth’s Double Bay store, before being rolled out to another fifty stores from May 2022.

You can find Indigiearth’s other products on the company’s website, OzHarvest supermarkets, GG’s Flowers, The Australian Museum, Queensland Art Gallery and P&V Merchants.
