Meghan Markle is no longer allowed to eat this one food

Queen Elizabeth Meghan Markle

Thanks to the Queen.

Now a Duchess (of Sussex to be exact), Meghan Markle’s habits have had to change. Unfortunately for her, that also includes her dietary preferences thanks to one particularly popular ingredient being banned by the Royal Family.

Said ingredient is garlic, a smell and taste which Queen Elizabeth II has no time for. As a result, each and every member of the royal family (and their dishes for that matter) have been told to avoid it when in public, or on tour.

Royal chef Darren McGrady was the one who revealed the royal’s dislike for garlic. He confirmed that both garlic and onions have been banned from royal menus for some time due to their ability to create bad breath. “We can never serve anything with garlic or too much onions,” McGrady told Business Insider.

Another former royal chef John Higgins agreed, telling the National Post: “The Queen is a wonderful lady, the royal family are wonderful people but they’re missing out on garlic because at Buckingham Palace you don’t cook with garlic. I suppose, in case you get the royal burp.”

While Markle may no longer be able to indulge in garlic bread within the Queen’s presence, we’re sure a noble title isn’t a terrible consolation prize.
