The Golden Gaytime Sanga is here!
There has long been an enduring appeal to an ice cream sandwich, whether purely down to the practicality of being able to enjoy a treat stick-free or the generally ample serving size. Traditionally the domain of the ready-made ice cream sandwich was ruled by the much loved Maxibon, but it looks like times are changing.
There’s a new sheriff in town and his name is the Golden Gaytime Sanga.
The frozen Australian favourite has experienced a handful of makeovers since its birth in 1959 (including a sophisticated offering from celebrity chef Matt Moran). There’s been the Golden Gaytime Tubs, the Golden Gaynetto and Golden Gaytime Crumbs in a tin. But the Sanga is what Streets Ice Cream marketing manager Scott Mingl believes is perhaps the most Australian of the incarnations.
“We know Aussies love a Gaytime and we know they love a sandwich, so why not give them something they’d go nuts over. Sanga is the future of snacking for everyone who has had a Gaytime, remembers a Gaytime or simply just loves a Gaytime,” he says, explaining that the new creation is really a way to combine two of the biggest passions of the Australian people. “It’s not often you get to create snacking history, and with the launch of Sanga, we couldn’t be prouder.”
Gaytime describes the new treat as “highly functional.” It sees two soft, golden biscuit pieces hugging a sizeable serve of the ice cream’s famed dairy deliciousness. It’s stick-free (with an “ergonomic, snug shape that cradles like a baby in your hand”), and promises to be laden in a generous serving of crumb that covers at least half of the Sanga itself.
But perhaps the Golden Gaytime Sanga’s biggest selling point? It promises to be the biggest of the company’s dessert options so far. Maxibon, you’ve got company.
