Whoever said love don’t cost a thing hadn’t seen this menu item.
There’s no doubt that Valentine’s Day places a lot of pressure on date night. And while some of us may skew away from the elaborate, there are those who prefer to kick things up a notch on the romantic occasion. For those who aren’t afraid to splash a bit of cash (and guarantee they impress their date) there is now a dish for you.
The Langham Sydney will be welcoming The South Sea Pearl Entreé this Valentine’s Day. Designed Bistro Remy executive chef Dave Whitting, the lavish dish comprises of two freshly shucked Sydney Rock oysters, atop of which sits a duo of Australian South Sea pearls as a take-away momento of the evening. Valued at $3200, the meal spares no expense in its creation with the oysters procured from Australia’s first certified organic rock oyster farm Mimosa Rocks National Park, and the 10mm pearls harvested from the Broome coastline.
For the meal’s creator Dave, the elaborate offering is not just delicious but symbolic of the romantic event. “We wanted to take the traditional, romantic dinner for two and make it something extraordinary. Pearls are known in mythology to strengthen relationships, so are the perfect accompaniment to our limited edition Valentine’s Day entrée,” he explains.
