In this week’s issue of delicious. on Sunday, in Stellar magazine, we talk to trailblazing female chefs from around the world – Ana Ros, Elena Arzak, Dominique Crenn and Kylie Kwong. Winner of this year’s best female chef at the World’s 50 Best competition, Ana Ros, is completely self-taught. But that didn’t stop her from putting Slovenia on the map with restaurant Hisa Franko. Talking about the challenges for female chefs, she says, “We finish our work and we don’t go have a beer. We go home, check our children are asleep, maybe do some washing and cook a family meal.” Crenn, of San Francisco’s Atelier restaurant, hopes the award will be obsolete in the future. “The award is a platform for dialogue and conversation … but nothing is happening very fast,” she says.
In our weekly meal plan, chef Silvia Colloca shares some Italian recipes that aren’t pasta or pizza. Tuck into a gorgonzola, pear and walnut hand pie on Monday or her three-cheese zucchini gratin on Friday. Meanwhile, in his regular column, Matt Preston gives his top tips for creamy soups. Taking full advantage of the autumn vegetables, he shares his recipes ranging from leek soup to cream of cauliflower.
delicious. on Sunday also includes the latest news and reviews for each state on the eastern seaboard. In this week’s NSW edition, Anthony Huckstep visits Sake at The Rocks. For the VIC edition, Dan Stock heads to Napier Quarter in Fitzroy. In QLD, Anooska Tucker-Evans tries new South Brisbane venue La Lune Wine Co.
delicious. on Sunday appears in Stellar every weekend. Stellar is available in The Sunday Telegraph in New South Wales, the Sunday Herald Sun in Victoria, and The Sunday Mail in Queensland.
