Cheese addicts have a new reason to celebrate come the holiday period.
While those who don’t enjoy chocolate may be few and far between – they do exist. And for those non-chocolate lovers, Easter may well be a holiday that holds little appeal as a time to truly indulge in your sweet tooth. Enter the Cheester Egg, an Easter treat for those with a preference for dairy.
The idea was spawned by food blogger Annem Hobson of So Wrong It’s Nom, who collaborated with UK producer Wildes Cheese on the creation. From a recipe based on the brand’s Napier cheese, the duo formed a 260g egg-shaped block which is now selling for £14.95, as well as a part of a hamper.
“Chocolate is okay, but it’s a little boring and frankly I’m sick of seeing it dominating key retail periods,” explains Annem of her invention. “Cheese is what excites me so I’m thrilled my plans for a Cheester Egg have finally hatched and that the Cheese Advent Calendar is becoming a reality. There’s a whole army of cheese lovers out there showing me their support and I hope I’m doing them proud.”
Currently the Cheester Egg is only available in select London markets and online, but with cheese a worldwide favourite, there’s no telling where the Easter special will be stocked next.
It’s not the first time that Annem has taken on an edible holiday treat. Last Christmas she released a cheese advent calendar to great success.
