The one ingredient that many celebrities can't live without

It's fattier than we thought.

The world of celebrity food fads is often a fickle one. Bee pollen, coconut water and acai berries have all made cameos in the diets of some of the world’s most famous faces, sparking many to follow in their footsteps.

But there’s one humble ingredient that has remained a stalwart through all the buzz foods.

The versatile avocado is one of the most Instagrammed fresh food ingredients in celebrity diets. From its beginnings as a staple in Mexican diets, its rise has been steady. Locally, we’ve become famous for smashing “nature’s butter” on our toast by roughing it up with a fork and adding a squeeze of lemon. In the US, it’s a sushi staple, while Brazilians like to whip theirs into the ultra-creamy creme de abacate.

The omega-three-packed green fruit is a mainstay in supermodel Gisele Bundchen and her husband Tom Brady’s famously limited diet, as exhibited on her Instagram feed. It’s almost always surrounded by raw veggies and lacking anything resembling a dressing.

Singer/songwriter Jason Mraz, who was responsible for that wedding aisle mega-hot I’m Yours, farms avocados on his five and half acres of land just outside of San Diego. Some of his avo trees are up to 30 years old. Mraz sells then to locals and Mexican grill chain, Chipotle.

The Kardashian sisters frequent L.A’s Health Nut for their Chinese chicken salad, and they almost always add avocado to the mix, according to NY Mag.

Aussie model Miranda Kerr has a longtime love affair with avocados. She loves to add them to nutrient-dense salads, and snacks on them throughout the day.

Speaking with Bon Appétit recently, Jennifer Aniston shared some of her go-to breakfast dishes.

“Sometimes it’s a smoothie—bananas, cherries, a protein powder of some sort, almonds, cacao powder, and all sorts of other weird antioxidant stuff I can’t remember—with almond milk,” the actor said.

“Other times I have eggs over-easy—I crack them into a bowl and I’ll add a white or two into that and pour it all into the pan to get more protein sans too much yolk age. I’ll have that with avocado toast sprinkled with olive oil and salt and pepper.”
