Ladies, listen up. Tomorrow Friday November 23 marks a very special occasion in the calendar for female-focused support group Women in Hospitality. Specifically, award-winning author (and Parabere president) Maria Canabal will be in town, hosting a breakfast forum at Newtown’s Bloodwood as a part of the Parabere Forum.
For those not familiar with Parabere, it’s an app created in 2015 showcasing women working in the food realm. “Created in 2015, our database lists more than 5000 female chefs, sommelières, female food producers, scientists, anthropologists, innovators and experts from all over the world,” explains Canabal.
“It provides a resource both for storytellers and conference/festival organisers looking beyond the predictable, to enhance their articles and programs with strong female voices. Our database is a directory and community for all. In the past five years we have sent hundreds of members of our network to culinary events, competitions, round tables, congresses, universities and foundations all over the world. This app is the public version of our database with wonderful functionalities.”
The app is also home to a dedicated city guide which promotes female-led enterprises; an obvious must-have for any supporter of ladies working in hospitality. As for the forum, the events series led by Canabal has travelled the world, offering an opportunity for strong female voices to gather and discuss issues affecting the community.
Now Canabal will be meeting with Australian fans at a breakfast held in conjunction with WOHO; an event not to be missed for ladies (or gents) interested in the changing roles of ladies in hospitality. Tickets to the Parabere x WOHO breakfast can be purchased now online.
