What really drives Jamie Oliver will shock you

For our exclusive chat with the British chef, be sure to pick up a copy of Stellar magazine this Sunday.

In this issue of delicious. on Sunday, in Stellar magazine, we talk to British chef Jamie Oliver. Rather than sell his six Australian Jamie’s Italian restaurants when operating partner Keystone went into liquidation, the restaurateur decided to buy them back and breathe new life into them. “I never questioned for a minute I’d walk away,” he says. “Everyone, including the customers and the staff, is better off with me being their sole boss.” Oliver has a lot on the go. As well as his restaurants, the father of five is a media star, cookbook author and food revolutionary, campaigning tirelessly for better food in schools around the world. “We’re only on this planet for a pretty short time,” he says, “and I see my place as having a use.”

In our weekly meal plan, chef Shannon Bennett cooks up a feast for Mother’s Day. The five dishes are perfect to cook for your mum, to show her how much she is appreciated. With recipes like king prawns with coriander and chilli butter, crisp pork belly with black bean sauce, or dessert of spiced pear and coconut frangipane pudding, you’re sure to please mum next Sunday. Meanwhile, in his regular column, Matt Preston recounts some of his more memorable drinking disasters, from the psychopathic bar owner to the worst bar in the world.

delicious. on Sunday also includes the latest news and reviews for each state on the eastern seaboard. In this week’s NSW edition, Anthony Huckstep visits Viking-inspired eatery Mjolner at Redfern. For the VIC edition, Dan Stock heads to Rare Hare at the rejuvenated Willow Creek winery in Merricks North. In QLD, Anooska Tucker-Evans tries the new menu at Sake Brisbane in the city. (All the reviews live on delicious.com.au.)

delicious. on Sunday appears in Stellar every weekend. Stellar is available in The Sunday Telegraph in New South Wales, the Sunday Herald Sun in Victoria, and The Sunday Mail in Queensland.
