Get set to continue your caffeine addiction well into the evening...
There’s a new sheriff in town and his name is the Turbo G&T. The alcoholic concoction is proving tough competition for the beloved espresso martini with the beverage sweeping Instagram and cropping up on bar menus the world over.
But what exactly is the Turbo G&T? It’s a drink that packs a punch thanks to its base of ingredients that merges the partnership of gin and tonic with cold brew coffee. It’s a flavoursome trio that combines “cold brew with the beautiful botanicals of gin and the gentle bitterness of tonic creates a tall, tart treat of a cocktail,” explains the Gin Foundry.
The website is such a fan of the new invention that it has released a recipe for fans of the drink (or those simply curious as to how the flavours combine) to test it for themselves. But the impatient should be warned, it’s a lengthy process of creation for the ‘energising cocktail’ if you choose to make your own cold brew. “Cold brew coffee is made by steeping coffee in cold water overnight (or in Sandows case, for 16 hours),” explains Gin Foundry. But the lengthy process is an essential one “[it] picks up none of the acidity that you’d expect from a cup of joe. Instead it brings a rich caffeine dose that is naturally sweet and smooth,” says the website.
