Say goodbye to your childhood forever.
It’s the end of an era and the playground will never be the same again. From Monday, Sunnyboy ice blocks, the pyramid-shaped joy of the school yard will no longer be sold. Cue the violins, people.
The Daily Drinks Co confirmed that they have “regrettably had to make the hard decision to stop production of the icy treat, Sunnyboy, as the brand has experienced a sustained reduction in consumer demand, making it necessary to delete the product from our range of water ice treats.”
It’s devastating news for the ice block diehards among us at delicious. Memories of the sticky cold treat that would stain your lips, teeth, school uniform, hat, bitumen and your best friend Robbie, and would take you all of big lunch to consume (because, let’s be honest, there wasn’t enough time at little lunch between slogging everyone out in an epic handball competition) have been regaled around the office today.
And it has brought back memories of other long-lost primary school canteen items: pizza pockets, icy cups, norca bites and carob buds—we’re actually starting to understand why Mrs Applegate always had ‘quiet time’ after lunch, that tiny shop manned by apron-clad mums provided a veritable minefield of sugar highs.
But for those ice block connoisseurs out there, who are also mourning this great loss today, never fear. The Daily Drinks Co. have reassured consumers that Zooper Dooper, the iconic frozen tubes filled with 8 Cosmic flavours, including fairy floss force field, deep space lime, cola cosmos; and 8 Magic flavours: beaming banana, toffee apple taser, jaffa Jetstream (we’re not making that up), are still on the production line. Phew.
