Surry Hill’s Nomad unwraps four special presents to celebrate five successful years.
Among Sydney’s fast-moving dining scene, Nomad is a veritable veteran, notching up five years this October at its Surry Hills location.
And such an auspicious milestone is not going by unheralded, with co-owners Rebecca and Al Yazbek unwrapping a very special birthday gift: the very first NOMAD wine collection.
Made up of a sauvignon blanc, rosé and pinot noir, the collection has been developed exclusively for the restaurant in collaboration with Will Gilbert of Mudgee’s Gilbert Family Wines.
The three new wines, which are so fresh, they’ve still to be labelled, are on Nomad’s menu at $14 a glass.

“The Nomad wine has been a long time coming,” says Rebecca. “It’s so important to us to collaborate with the NSW winemakers that have supported our business over the past five years.”
The wines aren’t the only toast to Nomad’s five years. Head chef Jacqui Challinor is bringing back past signature dishes over the next five weeks. The rotating special menu kicked off with the restaurant’s famous goat’s cheese churros, served with goat’s curd and truffle honey, and pavlova with caramelised white chocolate and passionfruit.

Other iconic picks appearing over the coming weeks include smoked eel croquettes, North Queensland king prawns with saffron butter, and Valrhona chocolate with coconut creme.
And keeping the party spirt going, there’s also a Happy (Birthday) Hour from Monday to Friday from 5pm during October, with $10 drinks at the front bar – either a Negroni, a glass of prosecco, or wines from the Nomad collection.

The final celebratory touch is a reboot of Nomad’s hugely popular Bottomless Rosé Saturdays. A refreshed menu features dishes such as burrata with fennel jam and extra virgin olive oil, and Rangers Valley rump cap with barbecue sugar loaf cabbage and bagna cauda. These are, of course, accompanied by a never-ending supply of the new Nomad Rosé.
