That's your weekend sorted.

Like a Phoenix from the flame, Sydney’s Pyrmont Growers Market is back in its old waterside stamping ground, after a 10-month hiatus that left its many loyal fans disappointed.

The market’s revival comes courtesy of Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce, with support from near-neighbour, The Star casino and entertainment complex.

delicious. toured the stalls on its opening Saturday in the company of chef and food consultant Tawnya Bahr, who was closely involved with the old market for many years, and it’s safe to say the range and quality of produce on offer is enormous.

Held on the fourth Saturday of every month, from 7.30am until noon, the new incarnation of the market has kicked off with around 60 stalls, which will rise to around 85 by April.

It’d be a fussy chef indeed who couldn’t leave satisfied, with organic fruit and veg, artisanal cheese, gourmet honey and butter, pasture-raised meat and eggs, the very best cured meats, small goods and deli fare, and much more on offer. Just some of the sellers to look out for include Pinos’ Dolce Vita Fine Foods, the German Butchery, Sutton Forest Meats, Mirrool Creek Lamb, ALTO Olives, Hunter Valley Cheese, Grima’s Farm Fresh Produce, Pepe Saya, Long Paddock Eggs… the list goes on.

And if all that shopping has your stomach grumbling, there are plenty of stallholders offering hot snacks, sweet treats and fresh coffee, including Black Star Pastry, The Little Marionette Coffee, Pat and Stick’s, and Fat Meringue.

“The markets were always a popular attraction in the precinct and the positive feedback weʼve received about its return suggests it will be just as popular and successful as ever,” says Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce co-president Erica Reynolds.

That sentiment was echoed by market manager Mick Roche: “The stall holders are all very positive about the launch. So many people from the community have shown interest… and it is fantastic to bring back a local market.”

Tawnya will be running free tours of the market on Saturday, April 22, and in future months. For more information, visit: tawnyabahr.com/tours/. For more information on the markets, visit: pyrmontgrowersmarket.com.au.
