VB ice cream: yes, it's a thing

VB gelato now exists

Is this the most Aussie dessert ever invented?

Australia has a slew of national delicacies (lamingtons, meat pies and the like) but they may have been outdone by the recent invention of the Victoria Bitter gelato. As Aussie a creation as they come, the dessert has been crafted by an ice cream maker in Queensland.

Zanette’s Gelati on the Gold Coast welcomed the flavour recently, where owner Frank Bailey infused his much-loved gelato with the beer. The ice cream is only available to those aged 18 and over thanks to its high alcoholic content and is fast becoming the most popular flavour available.

“People just like it, of course. Anything with alcohol in it is good, isn’t it?,” Frank told Channel 7 News. “They just line up for it, and as you can see there’s nothing left in the tray.” It’s the latest in the gelato store’s Aussie-themed desserts with Zanette’s also known for its vegemite and XXXX Gold offerings.

But VB doesn’t just belong in gelato, the beer is also just as delicious served in ice cube form.
