This isn’t your average green Woolies bag.
Last year, the internet (and your local Woolies) went a little crazy. Was it because of some new viral biscuit? Chocolate-flavoured coconut water? Half-priced barbecued chickens? Nope.
It was because of… a reusable shopping bag.
This unlikely star of the supermarket became the talk of the town – and posed a few questions.
Could a reusable shopping bag really be chic? And, more importantly, would that chicness stop us from leaving it forgotten in the boot during our Woolies run?
Well, we can’t answer the second question. But as for the first: if Anya Hindmarch has anything to do with it, the answer is a resounding yes.
The British designer created The Universal Bag for Woolworths – an environmentally-friendly tote that made those old green bags you’ve been carting around for six years look, well, basic.

And now, Hindmarch has flexed her design muscles again with a mini version of that viral Universal Bag. Designed in a fun, compact size for everyday convenience, the Mini is perfect for a quick shop, a chic lunch tote, or even a teensy beach bag to carry your snacks and a bottle of sunscreen.
The Mini comes in two colourways – classic Woolworths green and a new charcoal – echoing the iconic Woolies palette.

“Our customers absolutely loved the bag we launched last year in collaboration with Anya’s team, and it’s wonderful to still see them being used in our aisles every day,” Rhonda Ma, Category Manager at Woolworths.
“This new mini version offers something different again. It’s a great size for a quick shop, a chic lunch tote, or even a stylish way to carry your tech. They’re landing in stores now but, if last year’s frenzy was anything to go by, we encourage people to get in early so they don’t miss out.”

Even better? Each bag is made from 100% recycled plastic, with the Universal Bag project (which launched in 2021) diverting 433 tonnes of plastic from landfill to date – the equivalent weight of sevenSydney Harbour ferries.
Chic and eco-conscious? Yes please.
How much will the new Anya Hindmarch Mini Universal Bag cost?
The recommended retail price of the new Mini Universal bag is $15. Comparatively, the original larger Universal Bag cost $20.
When will the new Anya Hindmarch Mini Universal Bag be available at Woolworths?
The new Anya Hindmarch Mini Universal Bag will be available in over 400 Woolworths stores across Australia, including Metro locations, from mid-February 2026.
